One Last Hoorah....

It's hard to deal with your mistakes.  That's what I'm working through now.  I went to my favorite place to pray yesterday and really struggled to find words to say to God.  It got a little better after a while, but I still was having a such hard time.  I think my struggles have really challenged me to find perspective in a life that seems to become harder and harder every day.  I'm grateful for Christoph and Katja yesterday that helped me to remember what it is that I'm trying to do.  Thank you.

Today, I've watched the Susan Boyle audition video about 4 times as well. There's a woman living her dream. I want to continue to live mine here, too... I'm not envious, just ready to start working again because things are getting critical in my finances.  Here's to one last hoorah this week....

  1. Dear Tim,

I stumbled upon your blog and have to say it really hit a chord with myself and the similar experiences I am going through, even down to the timing, as a british guy living in the US. I find the same relief in the church and prayer also. I did drop you a note of praise on Facebook and I hope you did not mind. I would love to chat with you about your experiences sometime if you would permit.

    With greatest respect.

  3. Hi Tim, thank you for coming back to me.

Well I can repost here for sure....

    Dear Tim,

We have not spoken before but I happened to stumble upon your blog and felt an immediate familiarity and connection to your situation.

My name is Adam, I am originally from England, living in the US, with my own visa clock ticking and also exploring my own demons in life, building upon my faith to conquer those demons and find the stability that so many take for granted.

I moved from Europe to the US in 2007 to undertake my MBA and then went to work in WA for Microsoft, laid off and now work out of Dallas. My company is shutting down at the end of the month and then I will move onto a tourist visa to spend time with my Godfather who has been battling cancer and spending time with my distant cousin in Bremerton, WA.

I lived in Vienna Austria, in 2006 and that is where I met my friend Lance, a US diplomat serving at the embassy. He introduced me to religion and it is there where I moved from agnostic to having a faith. Greatest day of my life. I have faced MANY challenges and demons during my time in the US. One of the toughest was learning my mother had died from cancer 6 months after the event from google. I went through a literal baptism of fire and in 2010 became baptized episcopalian in Washington, DC. Accepting jesus into my life as my saviour gave me a completely new lease in life.
I thought it was interesting what you wrote about satan and how the devil will draw you into being lethargic and getting his claws into you. I have had that too in the last couple of years and my own job search to a better company has been sparodic at best.

But I also think that is a challenge which god wants me to overcome as from your writings, I can tell you are strong enough to overcome too.

Just reading what you have written actually gave me hope as firstly I know I am not the only one in such a situation. I know god will take care of me as well as with you, just sometimes we do not see that straight away. But something I have learnt in recent years is....
...there is no such thing as bad situation. Just means god wants us to be on the right track and gives us a gentle, or hard, push to be on the right track, the reward will be wonderful but to have faith in him and if you can meet some solid friends along the way who will support that all the better.

I will say a prayer for you today Tim, I really do want you to succeed. You seem like a wonderful fellow.

    Warm regards,

    Adam

  4. Thank you Adam. I am from WA, used to live right next door to Microsoft in Redmond, the building I used to work in in Redmond is now a Microsoft building. My family is from Bremerton.... Seriously, we already have a TON in common. Your note was very moving for me, I am also glad I'm not alone. God obviously has great plans for us, can't wait to hear about what they are in your life, just as I am excited to see what they are for mine. You have a friend here, would love to be able to discuss the journey with another pilgrim. Thanks for following me.

  5. Tim, it is a very small world after all and the tech world continues to make it smaller.

I lived near building 32 which I guess does not mean much, I do miss the summer there for sure, so glorious and beautiful. I am due to visit my cousin in Bremerton for the first time next month. Wow freaky.

I am looking so forward to learning more about your journey. My pleasure to follow you my new friend.
